The coat of arms of Haiti was originally introduced in 1807, and has appeared in its current form since 1986. The ribbon bears the motto: L'Union fait la force ("Unity Makes Strength"). The Haitian Revolution is the only successful revolt led by enslaved Africans in history, and resulted in the establishment of Haiti, the first independent black state in the New World. The revolt began on August 22, 1791, and ended in 1804 with the former colony's independence.
This shirt is a celebration of the fight for liberation led by the people of Haiti.
