Axé (pronounced ah-sheh, and also spelled ase/ashe) is a Yoruba word that has multiple meanings. I personally define it as 'and so it is, as I claim it to be,' or 'let it (God's will) be done/it (God's will) is done. Axé also refers to the life force that flow through all living things; similar to the Chinese concept of Qi (pronounced chee). It can also be used when you agree with someone as an affirmative like Christians use Amen.
